GoPro Dome – Under and Over

This summer has flown by! School started on yesterday and I am just now sitting down trying to manage and organize all of the images taken across several cameras this summer.

One camera that I pulled out of a drawer where it has been sitting for a couple of years, is my old GoPro Hero 3. I know, I know, but it still works fine, and that’s all that I care about.

I took this camera on a late summer trip to North Carolina where I knew my aunt’s community had an awesome pool. While I love my Olympus TG4 for everyday use and underwater photography, I have been unsuccessful at capturing images in the water showing what’s going on above and below the waterline with it. So, I decided to purchase the GoPro Dome for the Hero 3 and give it a shot.

It takes some getting use to. The most important thing is calm water. From about 500 or so shots total taken during the course of 3 days at the pool, I got a handful of good quality images with a clear under and over view.

Sadly, I had to return the GoPro Dome as it would leak into the camera department anytime you attached the grip/image taking trigger. Maybe next summer I will look into trying another one.
