Highlands Integrative Pediatrics

By rachelkemble · Comments (0)
Monday, May 20th, 2013

Dr. Bryan Kono opened up a new pediatric office located in the Highlands called Highlands Integrative Pediatrics. Dr. Kono believes, “…that there is a way to combine the best of natural and conventional healing in one center.  We don’t have to be solely eastern or western practitioners and patients.  We can integrate the two and improve the health of our children and our family in a holistic way that treats each child and family unit as a unique and valued member of our practice community.”

Per their website….

Highlands Integrative Pediatrics

Highlands Integrative Pediatrics offers a full array of conventional pediatric services from well-child checkups and sports physicals to same day visits for illness.  Through these services we incorporate both conventional and natural strategies to promote your family’s wellness and facilitate recovery from ailments.

We also host complementary providers within the H.I.P office space.  Services including:

  • Naturopathic Evaluation
  • Five Element Chinese Medicine Evaluation and Treatment
  • Biofeedback and Self-Hypnosis
  • Play therapy and family counseling

If you’re looking for a pediatrician, the next meet and greets are on June 6th @ 6pm and June 27th @ 6pm.

I actually do a lot of “Boudoir” type maternity images, but a first for permission to use. She was a gorgeous mom-to-be! This is my new favorite maternity image!

Vanilla Yoghurt (yogurt) Pancakes – Denver Photographer

By rachelkemble · Comments (0)
Friday, May 10th, 2013

I get asked about these pancakes all the time! I have found fantastic ways to hide good stuff in my daughter’s food. Pancakes being one of them, and she always asks for pancakes in the morning.

Having never measured before, I tried to this morning and found that they are pretty much a 1:1 recipe depending on how much batter you need.

  • 1 cup Aunt Jemima buttermilk just add water mix (no water added though)
  • 1 cup of low fat or no fat vanilla yoghurt (I use Rocky Mountain Yoghurt)
  • 1 TBS of ground flaxseed and almond mix
  • 1 mashed banana
  • Mix all together
  • Make pancakes like normal

Or double all of that if you need more mix.

Maya always request peanut butter on top. Protein, right? ;-) I’ve attempted, once, to make them into the shapes but those are just way too hard to use to get out of the holder to flip over. Shape holders are probably better for eggs.

Next time I’ll have to try to remember to measure my “rainbow” pancakes. Purple pancakes made with blue and black berry puree. Red pancakes with strawberry puree.
